In order to proactively ensure the quality of raw materials, and simultaneously contribute to enhancing the production and business efficiency for farmers, Uniben is constructing and deploying a plan to support farmers in implementing the safe and clean vegetable production model in accordance with VietGAP standards.
A representative from Uniben stated that the program aims to develop a clean raw material area, ensuring the quality and food safety for products right from the input. The program, advised and supported by engineers and experts from the Agricultural Promotion Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Agricultural Economy Structure Transformation Consultation and Support Center. At the same time, the company will sign long-term purchasing contracts, facilitating stable output support, helping farmers to sell their products.
The program has been piloted with households growing coriander in Dong Thap, Vinh Long, and chili in Ho Chi Minh City. It is expected that the program will continue to expand to other chili-growing households in Tien Giang, Tay Ninh; onion growers in Hanoi, Hai Duong; galangal in Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Soc Trang, Long An; and mushroom growers in Dong Nai, Vung Tau...
After a strict evaluation process, each selected household and farm supplying vegetables for Uniben will be guided and supervised by agricultural engineers and experts in organizing production according to VietGAP standards. Specifically, these producers will be trained and guided by experts on the safe vegetable production process; supported with technical assistance, and provided with knowledge on the use of plant protection substances. The engineers also help farmers update the list of substances banned in vegetable production; control the quality during production and before harvest; guide and support the VietGAP certification procedures...

Thanks to Uniben for inviting technical staff to provide thorough support and for signing a product purchase contract, I feel very reassured in implementing this program," Mr. Be shared.
Ms. Le Thanh Mai, an agricultural engineer from the Ho Chi Minh City Agricultural Extension Center, commented that Uniben's requirements and support for farmers to implement the VietGAP standard clean vegetable production model ensures product quality right from the beginning.
